I go to IKEA purely for the swedish meatballs…..and cinnamon buns….and well, the ice cream cone. Ok, I go to a furniture store for the food. I feel no shame! The swedish meatballs at IKEA are amazing! Perfect little meatballs bathed in a creamy sauce. Heaven on a plate! Even better, they were often only $1.00!!!!
To keep this recipe “weeknight friendly” I chose to buy chicken meatballs that were premade. I really like a turkey or chicken meatball for Swedish meatballs. I find beef to be too greasy when paired with a creamy sauce.
I got started by frying up the meatballs so they were brown and crispy on the outside. Then I set them aside and started to make the heaven that is a swedish meatball cream sauce.
This recipe calls for butter and heavy cream. It’s not a diet dinner by any means but life is about balance! Eat the butter! If you played around with flour substitutes, this could easily be a keto dinner.
I serve these meatballs over mashed potatoes. They also hold up well on their own with a green salad. This is an easy meal that comes together in about 30 minutes.Print
